Recreational Land Use Policy

For the purpose of this policy, recreational land use refers to the general public's use of our timberlands for leisurely activities. It is the policy of Wausau Paper to offer recreational opportunities to the public within compliance of a recreational land use policy. Recreational land use includes but is not limited to the following uses:

1. Firewood Cutting: The cutting of firewood on Company lands is allowed by permit. Firewood permits are limited to the permittees own personal use. There is a nominal charge for firewood permits subject to the conditions stated on the permit.

2. Hunting, fishing: All Forest Crop Law lands are open for hunting and fishing by statute. Under the Managed Forest Law, lands that are MFL "open" are designated as open for hunting, fishing, cross country skiing, hiking and sightseeing.

3. Snowmobiles and All Terrain Vehicles: Snowmobiles and ATVs are only allowed on designated snowmobile and ATV trails. ATV's and snowmobiles are not allowed on any other company lands.

4. Deer Stands: Portable deer stands are allowed provided no nails; screws, hardware, etc. are used to attach the stand or steps to the tree. Permanent tree stands are not allowed on company lands. Stands do not have to be removed daily but must be removed by the end of the calendar year.

5. Overnight Camping: Overnight camping is not allowed on company lands.

6. Permanent Structures: Permanent structures such as shacks or cabins are not allowed on company lands.

7. Day Use Activities Allowed: It is permissible to picnic, swim and pick berries on company lands.

8. Campfires: Campfires are not allowed on company lands.
